Provisioning block storage space

Block storage space is provisioned via storage volumes connected to a target group.

  • Each node in a target group can host a single target for that group.
  • Block storage space is not fully thin provisioned. After user data removal, unused storage space is not reclaimed and is reported as actual used space, which is charged according to your licensing model. For more details, refer to Logical space chart.

Provisioning overview

  1. Create a target group.
  2. Create block volumes and attach them to the target group as LUNs.
  3. Connect initiators to targets by using standard tools of your operating system or product, as described in Accessing iSCSI targets in the Storage User’s Guide.
