Managing migrations from external platforms
This section describes migration of virtual machines from external platforms (such as VMware vSphere) into Virtuozzo Infrastructure.
Before starting a migration, ensure that your environment and virtual machines meet the supported configurations described in Supported migration configurations.
Migration is performed in multiple stages. First, you create a migration that defines the source environment, target configuration, and mapping settings. Then, you replicate data from the source platform to the target environment. Finally, you deploy the migrated virtual machines.
Only VM disks are replicated. VM memory and runtime state are not transferred.
Before creating migrations, you must add and configure source clouds.
Limitations
- This feature is currently in early access and intended for evaluation purposes only. Use in production environments is not recommended.
- Software RAID configurations are not supported for migration.
- Concurrent replication of multiple disks per VM is not supported. Currently, disks are replicated consecutively.
Prerequisites
- The migration service is installed by a system administrator. It can be deployed along with the compute cluster or later.
