Requirements and planning
Virtuozzo Infrastructure runs on commodity hardware and can be deployed on standard servers, storage devices, and network equipment. Hardware requirements depend on the services deployed and the planned workload.
For production deployments, you can run Virtuozzo Infrastructure on a physical server, or inside a virtual machine when using backup storage in a public cloud. In all other cases, deploying Virtuozzo Infrastructure inside virtual machines is supported for evaluation purposes only.
Infrastructure planning helps determine the deployment architecture and estimate the resources required for the planned workloads. Planning typically consists of the following steps:
- Select a deployment scenario.
- Estimate compute requirements.
- Estimate object storage requirements, if applicable.
- Estimate backup storage requirements, if applicable.
- Reserve capacity for high availability and future growth.
- Verify hardware and network requirements.
