1. Overview

Virtuozzo Linux 9 Beta is a 1:1 clone of Redhat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9 Beta. It is free to download, use, and distribute. Virtuozzo Linux 9 Beta offers new features and components, a new kernel, and enhanced security.

2. New Features

  • Enhanced security and compliance:

    • Smart Card authentication via web console

    • Additional security profiles

    • Detailed SSSD logging

    • Integrated OpenSSL 3

    • Integrity Measurement Architecture (IMA) digital hashes and signatures

    • SSH root password login disabled by default

  • The rpm tool now uses sqlite instead of berkleydb.

  • Updated compilers: GCC Toolset 11, LLVM Toolset 12, Rust Toolset 1.54, Go Toolset 1.16.

  • Updated components: kernel 5.14.0, glibc 2.34, Python 3.9, bash 5.1.8, CUPS 2.3.3, bind 9.16, firewalld 1.0.0.

3. Installing

Virtuozzo Linux is also available as a Docker image. You can get it with docker pull virtuozzo/vzlinux9.
