3.1. Upgrading VA Management Node¶
You can upgrade the VA 6 Management Node component as follows:
Setup a new Master Server with the VA 7 Management Node installed. For details, see Master Server Requirements and Installing VA Management Node.
On the VA 7 Management Node, execute the
vaconfig import-ssh
script with the VA 6 Management Node credentials from script’s default location:# /opt/pva/mn/bin/vaconfig import-ssh [--user <user>] [--passwd <passwd>] <VA6_MN_IP_address_or_hostname>
The script will collect all the needed data, dump it to a tarball on the VA 6 Management Node, and then import the created tarball to the VA 7 Management Node.
Shut down the VA 6 Management Node.
Change the VA 7 Management Node IP address to that of the VA 6 Management Node.
Important
The VA 7 Management Node should have the same IP address as the VA 6 Management Node.
All hardware nodes previously registered in Virtuozzo Automator 6.1 will appear in the VA 7 Control Center.
After importing the VA 6 Management Node data to the VA 7 Management Node:
the previous Virtuozzo Automator 7 setup, including registered slave servers, is replaced with that of Virtuozzo Automator 6.1 (for instructions on how to re-register your physical servers, see Registering Physical Server in Virtuozzo Automator),
the installed Virtuozzo Automator license is lost due to the hardware ID change,
Note
Starting from Update2 Hotfix6, Virtuozzo Automator does not require a separate license.
the physical server hosting the container with the VA 6 Management Node may be offline in the VA 7 Control Center. The detailed information on this issue is provided in the Virtuozzo KB article #2762523.
